West Midlands IT Association
The West Midlands IT Association has several hundred members, each
belonging to one of a number of branches that has its own local
committee. The Association is managed by a board of directors.
The
portal web site that the Association specified required several levels
of secure access, in addition to an open public area. The entire site
and its content had to be managed by administrative staff at the
Association's headquarters through a secure content management system,
with very specific and unique requirements. The functionality was to
include a directory of member companies, each with a profile that could
be maintained by the member, from within its own secure area, with a
quarantine system that required approval from the site administrator
before it could 'go live'. Each branch was to have its own area that it
could maintain itself, with a higher level of security for branch
committee members, enabling confidential local branch information to be
posted and shared. Finally, the board was to have an area with an even
higher level of secure access where board level information could be
posted and accessed by only board members.
Amongst the many other
functional requirements, the site had to include a secure system to
enable admin staff to post, and members to read, opportunities for
tendering for work. Alongside this there had to be a system to enable
opportunities for work to be submitted by the organisations placing the
work. Secure news and events systems were required to enable targeted
and categorised entries to be added and viewed. An event booking system
with a secure online payment system was also needed. Forums were
required to enable members to discuss topics and share information. An
automatic mailing system to enable members to be sent targeted
information and electronic newsletters was required, with an opt-in and
opt-out facility. An additional requirement was for a secure poll
system to be used to gauge the opinions of the membership on a wide
range of topics. Altogether, the brief was extensive and comprehensive.
aXcessTen

delivering the final portal on time, to specification and within budget.
